Situated just outside Ballydehob in the unrivalled beauty of West Cork, An Sanctoir is set in 30 acres of unspoilt countryside and is a sanctuary for people, plants and wild-life. Meadows which have never been "reclaimed" thread through low rocky outcrops. Immediately in front of the main building is a lake where old fashioned king-cups cluster in corners where the moor hens nest. Across the meadow is the river (widened in one spot to create a natural bathing pool) with its fast flowing, brownly glowing water rushing from the surrounding mountains on its way to the sea. A river walk meanders through the landscape. |
